Knowing the Different of the Soils

Surely, we have to know what kind of soil of our garden; it is very important to understanding what kind of water and fertilize that good for our lawn and garden. You can do the soil test to have the result that will show what kind of soil in our garden. The loam, clay and sandy don’t let the soil is dry so much, your plants and seeds will be drying up and then die. But don’t let it too wet too, because it will make your plants rot. Your structure of the soil also will be damage if your soil too wet or too dry. You can do the simple test for knowing that your garden soil in good condition or not.

Now, we will give some tips to determine your garden soil type. First, let’s fill about 21oz of tap water into the jar and then insert the powder softening about 1tsp and then shake them well until them dissolved completely.

And then insert enough the soil until the water reaches to the top of jar. Put the lid again and shake it again until the soil breaking down to be little particles in that jar.

And then place the jar on the flat surface. So we will see the soil will stay in the bottom of the jar allowing to what is in it. The sand is the strongest part in the soil and sand will fall down first, and then silt particles followed and then the clay particles stay on the top.

And then you can see the layers of the soil now, all of the particles relatively clear leave the water and stay on the top of the soil.

And then let’s check to see the layers of the soil in the equal size or not. If there is in the equal size, your soil tends to the loamy soil that has the good function and great for the growth of plant.

You can check the different of the clay soil with the sandy soil. If your sandy’s layer is thicker than clay’s layer, it means your soil tends to the light and it is sandy and if your clay’s layer is thicker than the sandy’s layer, it means your soil tends to heavy and it is clay. The problem that will come for the light or heavy soil is the irrigation, it will need the treatment so much and it will need the optimal growth of the plant.

To improve the consistency of the heavy or light soil is working the organic matter. Give your soil the minerals and vitamins to help the plants that growth in the soils, the compost or moss will give your soil more minerals and vitamins.

Actually, that is very easy to find the different of clay soil with sandy soil. Take the small moist soil and then roll with your finger, if you roll it to be a ball easily, absolutely that is the clay soil, but if you roll it to be a ball difficulty, surely that is the sandy soil.
